About last time…

Sorry for the awfully depressive last entry.

I made it in the Neocities HTML editor during a particularly bad episode. I wrote it, read it once, and published it. I thought about deleting it, but ultimately decided I would be doing a disservice to myself. I am still unsure how to face those feelings, and I haven’t found words of encouragement yet, but I am doing better. (Thank you so much to those who sent me kind messages; they meant a lot to me.)

Last year was extremely tough on me. However, it was not all bad. Although I didn’t achieve all of my 2025 resolutions (in fact, I didn’t fully achieve any lol), I was able to learn a lot.

2025

I am now more familiar with JS/DOM than I ever was. I even made a gallery with a filter (no lightbox though…). I can drive a couple of meters without having a full-on panic attack, and I think I did make more art than in 2024. I also learned how to do continental knitting!! I knitted a scarf, a pair of socks, and almost completed a zip sweater.

2026?

Yeah, I’m not writing resolutions again.

I started uploading the new code. You, my dear viewer, may be thinking that it looks the same. To that I can only answer: YES (that’s the idea), but believe me, it’s not. This new code is so much cleaner than the mess I previously had and will be easier to maintain.

However, I didn’t actually finish the whole thing, so right now I have both new code and old code coexisting. This, of course, defeats the purpose of it being easier to maintain. I can’t really defend this awful decision; I’m just stating it.

In December, I started watching Norvin W. Richards’s Introduction to Linguistics course, so that might be my new thing for this year. That, and fountain pens… fountain pens…

Also I picked up The Fellowship of The Ring in English. I read it once a couple of years ago in Spanish, but never got to TTT and ROTK. Anyways, WIP SAMWISE GAMGEE SHRINE➚. I love him sm.

Sorry for being inactive for the past year.

My mental health has been decliving rapidly since the last time I updated.

College has taken a huge toll on me. It saddens me deeply since I love what I am studying, yet I feel stuck. I lack both concentration and motivation. I fear this illness I have may have broken something in me that can’t be fixed. I see my friends moving forward in their majors and I am so happy for them, I truly am, but It is just impossible not to compare myself to them. This feeling sickens me. Slowly but surely, this disease has strained everything I once found comfort in.

It has never been my intention for this site (and my blog) to be a place where I vent about my personal life, but I’m sure these are feelings many share.

If you are reading this and you relate, I’m sorry. I don’t have any words of encouragement. I don’t know how to face this. I can only assure you, you are not alone in this. And I hope you get better. I pray it gets better for both of us because, if you are anything like me, you know just how debilitating this is.

Since August, I’ve been writing small updates without publishing them. I’ll try to polish them and so they may them see the light of day.

Hello, 2025?

December finals ARE OVER (thank god…) so I want to use the time off before February/March finals to work on this site. Even though this project is nowhere near as advanced as I wanted it to be, I think it was a good first year. I got somewhat comfortable with Neocities and its culture and found some amazing people and artists I don’t think I otherwise would.

With 2025 just around the corner, I started to think about my New Year’s resolutions and I thought it could be cute to have a New Year's resolution (Neocities ver.) so, ladies and gentlemen, I present you….

My Neocities New Year Resolutions

1. Learn JavaScript for once and stop pretending it’s just ugly c++.
2. Use newly acquired JavaScript skills to make a nice gallery page that can be filtered by tag and can open a lightbox modal… thingy.
3. Reuse the script done in resolution #2 to make an art gallery/art museum for art and artists I love.
4. Make a page to keep the books I’ll read throughout the year.
5. And finally, figure out how to do the fungarium.

As for my not neocities-related resolutions:

1. Get my driver's licence
2. Take more pictures and videos!!
3. Exercise more consistently
4. Do better in college (praying for just straight Bs at this point)
5. MAKE MORE ART!!!
6. read more (especially Latin American authors.. mi gente latino)
7. hate to admit this but… use twitter less…

When I was a child I kept many diaries. I don’t know exactly when or why I stopped doing it. Last year I got myself a scrapbook after realising I couldn’t remember a single thing I did in 2022. Now it’s double its original size and filled with paper, receipts, little drawings, wrappers and almost every trash I came across. I hope for the same vibe for this page so I’ll try to update it often, maybe twice a month..? (I won’t promise anything tho…)

That being said; this year was exceptionally uneventful. I didn't do much besides going to classes and now even that is finished. Meaning… finals season started * thunder sfx *

The year highlight was my little sister's graduation. She is so big now! I teared up when I saw her in her graduation outfit. Her grad party was amazing! I had such a great time.
